Hey, what’s up? My name is Kyle Matthews. I was born and raised in Southern California. Don’t let California perception fool you. I feel more at home in Nebraska than I’ve ever felt. While in California I grew up playing hockey, and going to the beach as much as possible. I’m not your typical “OC” resident; I didn’t grow up privileged at all. I grew up with parents who struggled with drug addiction, but did an amazing job making sure I had what I needed even though I grew up in a hotel.
In 2010, I went to a trade school for radio broadcasting and after seven months I found my first radio opportunity in McCook. After several months I was then transferred to Scottsbluff, Grand Island, and then on to the big city of Lincoln. I was lucky enough to find an opportunity to head back to So Cal and land a radio job where I grew up and thought that was it for me. After being there for eight months it was time to come “home” and return to Lincoln where I could continue my career and grow some roots. I’m now engaged and have an amazing home in the heart of Lincoln with two puppies and couldn’t be happier.
There are so many things in life that I truly enjoy doing like cooking/grilling, eating good food (who doesn’t); throw in some great beer, wine or whiskey, and some live music and I’ll be the happiest person on the planet. But of course, spending time with wife is my favorite.
Things I would love to get to do/try would be fishing, I know, crazy, right?! I’ve never been fishing. I would really like to get into hunting, but WOW it’s sure a pricey sport when you’re first getting into it.
That’s just a little about me, but I would love for you to tune in Monday through Friday from 3-7 p.m. so I can get know you! Don’t be shy. Please, if you ever see me around town I would love for you to introduce yourself and maybe we can grab a cold one sometime!
Cheers! – Kyle
